Welcome to Sweet Vines Farms Winery
Picture this:
An easy chair before a crackling fire with a plush throw.
An ottoman to rest your feet from a stressful day of labor.
You slowly sip a fragrant glass of your favorite wine…Ahh, the good life!
The ambience of a good wine starts with a winemaker’s affinity for making a superior product. Sweet Vines Farm Winery, under the direction of owner Seidah Armstrong, is known for its specialty wines. A third-generation winemaker, Seidah embodies the vision that was passed on from her great-grandmother, who migrated from Mississippi to Memphis and then settled in Chicago.
Seidah and her husband, John, became interested in producing classic wine flavors derived from grapes, muscadines, strawberries, blueberries, and dandelions. After researching early winemakers in Virgina, Seidah discovered a tie to winemaking efforts in her family history.
She interviewed family members who recalled the muscadine and dandelion wines of her great aunt Ethel Sower. Seidah found the method that her family used to create wine, and the process that other early winemakers used to blend soil and winemaking materials into exceptional wines, to be particularly fascinating. The couple decided to move forward and open a winery.
Their winery opened in 2001 and is housed in an early 1800s farmhouse that sits on 122 acres of land in Unionville, Virginia. Through the winery, Seidah maintains the winemaker traditions that her ancestors started and passed down to her. She honors her ancestors with a special garden created on the property.
The winery’s inventory includes wines that will please any palate. Two of their most popular wines are PYT (Pretty Young Thing), and Big Pappa (blueberry).
Sweet Vines Farm Winery offers a picturesque venue for special occasions, educates budding wine connoisseurs about how to taste wines, and provides sample tastings. In addition to hosting weddings, family reunions, birthday celebrations, and camping, the winery also offers tours, tastings, and community outreach events.
